ADMINISTRATION
Town Clerk
Appointed by the Board of Commissioners, the Town Clerk attends all
meetings of the governing board and records official actions. The
Town Clerk also acts as custodian of all legal documents pertaining
to the Town, prepares and distributes the Governing Board agenda,
administers oaths of office, and serves as Notary Public. The Town
Clerk also acts as Budget Officer and Finance Officer.
The Finance Office oversees all financial aspects for the Town of
Stanfield including accounts payable, accounts receivable, purchasing,
payroll, and financial management.
The Budget Office oversees all budgetary aspects for the Town of Stanfield
including budget preparation and maintenance.
The Town Clerk position also serves as Human Resources Coordinator,
Safety Officer, Insurance Coordinator, and Customer Service Representative.
Planning and Zoning
Currently, the Town Clerk position also serves as the Zoning Administrator
for the Town of Stanfield. The Planning and Zoning Department oversees
all zoning, subdivision, and nuisance regulations for the Town of
Stanfield and its surrounding ETJ. The Zoning Administrator completes
Zoning Compliances and reviews requests for Conditional Use Permits,
Rezoning, and Subdivision Approvals.
The Town of Stanfield Planning and Zoning Board serves in an advisory
capacity to the Stanfield Board of Commissioners. The Town of Stanfield
Planning and Zoning Board meets the second Tuesday of every month
at 7:00 pm. These meetings are held in the Stanfield Town Hall. The
Town of Stanfield Board of Commissioners and the Stanly County Board
of Commissioners appoint members of the Planning and Zoning Board.
Currently, the Stanfield Planning and Zoning is comprised of three
inside members and two outside members. Also, two members are appointed
as inside alternates and one member is appointed as outside alternate.
PARKS AND RECREATION
The Town of Stanfield currently maintains Pete Henkel Park within
the Town Limits. Currently, Pete Henkel Park has two (2) baseball/softball
fields, basketball court, tennis court, playground area, and picnic
shelter. At this time, the Town of Stanfield does not offer an organized
sports program. However, residents may contact the Stanfield Youth
Athletic Association, a non-profit organization, for information concerning
organized sports.
The Town of Stanfield also owns approximately thirty (30) acres along
picturesque Rocky River. This property is a future recreational project
and is NOT currently open to the public.
Currently, Stanfield Parks and Recreation sponsors an annual event
to raise funds for parks and recreation. This event, Spring Fling,
is generally held on the fourth (4th) Saturday of April annually.
Events include Arts/Crafts Vendors, Street Dance, and Cruise In. Please
contact Stanfield Town Hall if you would be interested in serving
on the Spring Fling Committee.
PUBLIC SAFETY
Police
The Town of Stanfield Police Department currently has four full-time
officers that work on a rotating schedule. The Police Department also
has three part-time officers. The Police Department performs traffic
control and handles all calls for police service with the Town Limits.
For a Police Emergency, please dial “911”. If you need
to speak with the officer on-duty, but the situation is not an emergency,
please contact Stanly County Communications at (704) 986-3700 and
they will dispatch the officer.
Fire
The Town of Stanfield contracts fire protection service from Locust
Volunteer Fire and Rescue. For a Fire/Rescue Emergency, please dial
“911”.
PUBLIC WORKS
The Town of Stanfield Public Works Department maintains
all town-owned streets. Waste Collection, Street Lighting and Beautification
also fall within this department.
As you may have noticed, the Town of Stanfield has undertaken a Beautification
Project in the past year. Many street corners have been “dressed
up” with flower/shrubbery beds. The Beautification project will
continue.
Street Lighting is contracted with Duke Power. All streets within
Stanfield have at least one streetlight. The Town of Stanfield is
pleased to offer this service to its residents. Our streets and neighborhoods
are safer when well lit.
Currently, the Town of Stanfield has over seven miles of town-owned
streets. Along with street maintenance, the Town of Stanfield also
maintains rights of way and street signage along town-owned streets.
Residents are encouraged to report any street problems (i.e. potholes,
missing signage, street light outage, etc.). Residents may call or
stop by Stanfield Town Hall to report any problems. Residents may
also send an email referencing any particular street maintenance issues.
Waste Collection
The Town of Stanfield currently contracts with Waste Management for
waste removal services. All residences and businesses within the Town
of Stanfield are issued one rollout waste container. Waste Collection
for the Town of Stanfield occurs each Tuesday. A small number of streets
are serviced on Mondays. All rollout containers should be placed at
the curb prior to morning of scheduled pick-up. Residents may call
Stanfield Town Hall to order waste removal service, or to report any
garbage complaint such as broken wheels or broken containers.
Leaf Pick-up
The Town of Stanfield offers leaf pick-up once a year, usually in
December. These dates will be advertised in the Stanly News and Press,
the Weekly Post and on this website. Residents are not required to
call in to request leaf-pick-up. Residents are asked to place loose
(not Bagged) leaves at curb prior to date of service. Please do not
bag leaves or mix limbs or any other debris with the leaves.
Special Clean-up Days
The Town of Stanfield holds two large Clean-up Days each year. The
Spring Clean-up is usually held in May and the Fall Clean-up is usually
held in October. These clean-ups consist of items that are not normally
picked up in your regular waste collection on Tuesdays. Chemicals,
hazardous materials, tires, batteries, and construction debris will
NOT be accepted. Listed below are examples of items that will be collected
during the clean up.
